Desperate to change

Early childhood brings back a lot of memories for me, mostly good. Unfortunately I grew up with some terrible memories that developed my fears that I continue to fight today. Comparisons. Great for market research, not so great for children. I remember being in dance class every week and feeling disgusted, most likely because I was a tad heavier than the other kids and weight was a highly talked about subject in the household. Second helpings of dinner before the dreaded dance class (or more realistically the dreaded huge mirrors) could not have helped, but food was my comfort. It was always there and always calmed me. Don't misunderstand me here, I wasn't a fat kid, but I wasn't petite either. Constant negative thoughts about myself lingered in my head, if someone said I was pretty I didn't believe them.

I am beginning this blog to talk about some of the very unhealthy feelings I have had about myself over the span of my life and how I am attempting to break them now. I get online for various other reasons and if I can check my e-mail I can definitely post a blog. Usually I get distracted from my goals and don't follow through. This is do or die time. I am desperate to change.
